Vibrant colours in the sky can occur at night around the summer equinox, the perfect time to explore Gluggafoss (pronounced 'CLICK-a-foss'), a beautiful multi-drop waterfall on the south coast of Iceland with a total height of 171 feet. Erosion over millennia has opened a 'window' in the upper portion where the water can be seen streaming inside the rockface.

For the adventurous, a long path up the east side of the falls reveals even more dramatic cascades which are invisible from below.
