A metal-rich mineral spring system creates these beautiful colors in the soil in Kootenay National Park.

The ochre was collected and used for pigments by the Ktunaxa people hundreds of years ago, while the iron oxide was mined for paint manufacturing before the park was established in 1920.

Nature's palette amazes me.
