ChromaLuxe® HD Metal prints are created using a dye-sublimation process, where the image is infused directly into a special coating on an aluminum panel.
These prints offer beautiful colour, smooth detail, and exceptional durability, while being scratch-resistant and uniquely waterproof. They are ideal throughout the home, but especially well-suited for high-humidity areas like kitchens and bathrooms, with no worry of water damage.
Gloss vs. Matte Finish
ChromaLuxe® HD Metal prints are available in two surface finishes:
High Gloss:
Enhances colour saturation, contrast, and depth, with a slight reflective quality. Best for rooms with controlled lighting or minimal window glare.
Matte:
Reduces glare significantly and is ideal for bright rooms or spaces with large windows, offering a clean, reflection-free appearance.
Durability & Real-World Performance
One of the biggest advantages of ChromaLuxe® metal prints is their exceptional durability. The infused image is resistant to moisture, scratches, and everyday wear, making this medium perfect for both residential and high-use environments.
While these prints display excellent detail, they are slightly less sharp than acrylic face-mount prints due to the nature of the dye-sublimation process. This is a normal characteristic of the medium—not a flaw in the image or production.
The coating used in this process may occasionally show very subtle imperfections, but professional printers carefully orient each image so any minor variations are virtually invisible under normal viewing conditions.
Modern Floating Presentation
A recessed aluminum float frame on the back creates the illusion that the artwork is floating off your wall, offering a clean, contemporary presentation. Each piece arrives ready to hang with no external framing required.
As with all my work, your print includes a hand-signed, laminated certificate of authenticity, shipped separately.
Can You Frame A ChromaLuxe® HD Metal Print Yourself?
Yes, but it requires planning.
These prints are designed to be displayed frameless, with a rear-mounted floating system. If you plan to add your own external frame, you must contact me at the time of ordering so I can:
- Remove the rear floating frame
- Adjust the signature and edition placement
- Ensure compatibility with your custom frame
Your framer will then install appropriate hanging hardware. Adding glass is not recommended, as it introduces unnecessary glare and provides no benefit.
Considering a Framed Option?
If you prefer a traditionally framed presentation, I recommend a Charity Edition Lumachrome® TruLife® acrylic print instead.
This option provides:
